Stealth Viral Ads and Captain Disillusion

Share
I'm so glad I found TrendHunter today 'coz I found some really interesting viral videos on YouTube.

Have you seen the Guys backflip into jeans video?

It shows a couple of guys trying to get into their own jeans in different ways. Turns out that this video was actually a Stealth Viral Ad for Levi's (article on TrendHunter).

And, here's another one, for Ray-Ban, Guy catches glasses with face:

Well, while watching this Ray-Ban stealth viral ad, I found CaptainDisillusion. Here's a quote from his YouTube profile:
In a world where the content of digital images and videos can no longer be taken at face value, an unlikely hero fights for the acceptance of truth.

Captain Disillusion guides children of all ages through the maze of visual fakery to the open spaces of reality and peace of mind.

So, basically, he "debunks" viral hoax/fake videos. And he "debunked" the Ray-Ban Stealth Viral Ad "Guy catches glasses with face". Here's the video:

So, when you're bored, go check out his other videos. I love him already! LOLz!

The New Year is coming up and it's time again for all the countdowns or Top ## of 2008 lists. And while I was browsing the web, I found this pretty interesting website that you MUST check out:

They search the web for the craziest and most talked about hoaxes, articles, videos and what-nots that would drive people nuts. And I found some really funny and shocking photos and videos from their site. Here are some of them:

Discovering New Species Through Photoshop

I found these photos on one of their top ## lists. They're new species of animals... created through Photoshop. Pretty cool, eh? Hehehe.

Have you been Rick Rolled? Well, if you're not familiar with the term, what have you been doing for the past months? Hehehe. It's the same as getting "punk'd". Rick Rolling is one of the most popular internet pranks this year. The goal is to make anyone watch a really cheesy 80s music video of Rick Astley singing "Never Going To Give You Up".

I got Rick Rolled when I was searching YouTube for videos of Tina Fey's impersonations of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. I thought I found the video and when I got to the half part of the video, I was already watching Rick Astley shaking his booty to Never Gonna Give You Up. Damn! That was funny.

Here's the article from TrendHunter - Ultra Viral Internet Prank - Rick Rolling

I love Optical Illusions. And I'm glad I found this video on TrendHunter:

Life of a Call Center Employee: My Team's Christmas Get-Together

Share
We're Wave 24 for our account so I came up with the logo @ left, using the TV series 24's logo. Hmmm... we need a team name.

Yesterday, me and my new team had our post-Christmas get-together.

I can't really consider it a "party" since we were all groggy 'coz we haven't slept since the night before. Well, that's the life of a call center employee... drinking while the sun's up.

Anyway, I did enjoy the get-together, although not everyone who was supposed to be there came. We exchanged gifts and overall, I think they enjoyed it, too. (Hey, Marco! Where's my gift?!)

We weren't able to go out on Christmas day 'coz we were all at work. Yes, we were at work on Christmas day. Our shift's at 3am so we were still able to enjoy our Noche Buena with our own families. Same thing on New Year's eve. I was kinda depressed 'coz I miss my family but that's for another blog post.

So, going back to my team (what can I say, I'm an unorganized blogger hehehe), I've grown to like my team now. They're crazy so they make my work life a bit less stressful. So, I decided to post photos of them here. They were all excited about the "photo shoot" so here we go...

L-R: Sara este Ron, Jim, Jackie, Krishna

Moi, Joan (pronounced as jown), Ron, Next Top Model Angel and our wannabe-OM Fred

That's team work! Char!
Ives on a call (all pretend), Joan, Krishna, Ron, Mark, feeling Fred (OA ha hehe)

Ang mga ASTEGGGG ng Wave 24
Krishna (you again?!?), Marco (what the...), Ron, Jim (yes, pogi!) and John (siga)

11 of them at the "resto" beside Fisherman's Net
Can't remember the name of the place 'coz they suck!
As usual, Angel, feel na feel. Hehehe.

Us with San-chai este Cathy, John's partner (thanks for the beer!)
Mga kuripot kasi 'tong mga kasama ko eh. Hehehe.

Us again... with rising bold star, Angel.
Daming karir, ah.

Awww... how sweet!
Mark picked Jim for the exchange gift. Nice paper bag - butterflies and all.
And guess what's inside... a small plastic butterfly display. Mark, you're revealing too much.
And Jim actually loved the butterflies. Awwww.

Angel, pretty excited with her/his/its gift.
From Fred... pirated DVD of Desperadas (Angel loves Marian) and Kitkat chocolates.
How sweet, noh?

And, of course, moi, busy at work.

(Read on...)

That's it. We could've enjoyed the get-together more if everyone was there 'coz 5 of us didn't receive any gifts 'coz Jonah, Ryan, Dave, Poi and Marco weren't able to join us.

And, it was all unorganized so the venue and their food were major factors to our "un-enjoyment". Mai was pretty upset 'coz of the servings, especially their "buttered" chicken - PhP 100 for less than a leg portion of the chicken. And PhP 100 for a Pancit Canton serving good for someone who's on a diet. Sheesh!

So, word of warning, don't go to this place beside Fisherman's Net in Lahug, Cebu. Food is crazy expensive and customer service is as bad as their food.

Me and Mai weren't familiar with all the gimikan places here so we weren't able to plan the whole thing. (If we were in Manila, this won't be a problem) Ron initially wanted us to go to Neo Neo or Julia's but there were some who disagreed (meaning Marco). So, from now on, if we can't find a decent place to get together and drink without getting upset over the servings and how bad and expensive the food was, we'll just do it at our place. Mama agreed to have our future "parties" or team buildings at our place. At least, here, we can plan to have games or actual team building activities. And, we can enjoy REAL good food, less expenses.

Lesson learned: Always organize your parties/team building.
First time this happened to me. Anyway, we'll do better next time.

After the party, me and Mai went straight to her relative's house in Talisay. They're celebrating their town's fiesta and Mai's family were already there. Good thing we did 'coz they have lechon, menudo, etc. Nakabawi ako sa kinain ko sa pinanggalingan namin. Gosh!

All photos taken by my partner, Mai.
Thanks, hun! :)
(maisingit lang, eh. hehehe)

Made me miss my team back in APAC. I'll post photos of them here, too, next time. They had their Xmas party last night and I was supposed to join them through phone patch (naks) but I was so sleepy that I didn't hear Lindon calling me 7 times on my cel last night. Sorry, Lindon! Miss ko na kayo!

Cebu Pacific Low Fare / Absolutely Free Domestic Seats & Free Fare and No Surcharges for International Flights!

Share
Have you heard of Cebu Pacific's ABSOLUTELY FREE Domestic Seats promo?
And how about the FREE Fare and ZERO Surcharges for International flights?!
CRAZY, RIGHT?

My officemates were going all crazy about it!
They started out booking online since yesterday.
Argh! I wish we can go back home to Manila in February.

Yeah, the promo is for February to March 2009 flights only. But, you can avail of the promo only until today. Promo was only for December 25 to today.

The thing is... the promo is not available on all flights for February to March. There are just a select few... so you have to find them by yourselves. And, most of them are already booked!

Here's what I found out:
There are still available seats for February 11 and 24. I tried to book it for me and Mai.
Gosh! The price for 2 ROUND TRIP tickets from Cebu to Manila is just freaking PhP 912.04!!!

There are other available seats that cost lower but you just have to find them. Tricky, eh. Just look for that "Our Christmas Gift to you" message:
You're lucky if you can find that PhP 300 or less seat. One of Mai's colleagues was able to book his whole family for that date to go to Manila. Lucky him.

*Sigh* Yeah, we can save on the tickets and all. But, we're not yet regular employees so the leave will be unpaid. That's almost half of my salary. Nah. I'll just save those leave credits and moolah on our vacation after regularization.

I just hope there'll be another promo for May 2009!

Tanong lang... why are they all excited to go to Manila, anyway? My gosh, it's so crowded there and cost of living, even for a few days, is expensive. Sheesh. ManileƱo po ako so I have the guts and right to say that. I hope they thought about all the expenses of going to Manila before they actually booked their flights. Panic buying/shopping ba itoh?!

I just want to go there 'coz of my family. So... sayang! Cebu Pacific, please have another promo like this for May!!

My Top 10 Entrecard Droppers for November 2008

Share
Another month is over... and my blog's visitor count is already at 3,500+.

A month ago, I only had around 2,000+ visitors.

1,000 hits per month is good enough for me. I know that there are a lot of blogs out there that averages more than 1,000 visitors PER DAY, but, hey, this is not a niche blog so I'm very happy to see the numbers increase everyday (yes, I check the visitor count everyday... creepy, huh?).

And, I have to thank Entrecard for that and Entrecard members who drop by and leave their cards on here. Some of them even find time to read my posts and leave their thoughts. So, I want to thank them.

Without further ado...

Here are my TOP 10 Entrecard Droppers for November 2008

Special mention to Life is Simple (http://azlan.anilezfa.com) for being my Top Entrecard dropper for October and November.

Again, THANK YOU!!

Nuffnang Philippines Sony's Firsts Online Contest - I'm One of 50!

Share
Woohoo!!

A week ago, I posted a blog about My first Sony experience. It was actually an entry to Sony's Firsts Online Contest over at Nuffnang Philippines. You can read the full contest rules and instructions here.

The contest ended yesterday, December 4th, and they already selected 50 blog entries to receive VIP tickets to Sony Expo 2008 Christmas Treasures event tomorrow, December 6th.

And, guess what... I'M ONE OF THE 50 BLOGGERS!!!

I've read some really good entries so I'm not sure about my chances of winning. I would love to win the Sony Cyber-shot T700 camera or even the Sony VAIO C laptop. Hmm... unfortunately, for me, I can't go to the event!

Why would I miss such an event? I know! It's a great way for me to meet fellow Pinoy bloggers and check out Sony's new products. But, the event will be held at SMX Convention Center (I don't even know where that is) in Manila! And, I'm freaking here in Cebu, that's why!

Now, I don't want to miss my VIP ticket so I will send a message to the POC (point of contact) for the event and ask her if it's possible to give my VIP ticket to a friend who's in Manila, to represent me.

Anyway, I want to know who'll win the contest. I'd love to read his or her entry. This was actually a fun contest and I'm planning on joining more in the future.

If only I have my own laptop.... Sony VAIO T series. I'm not trying to brown-nose or what but I want one!

CONGRATULATIONS to my fellow Nuffnangers who were chosen, too. Please leave me a comment with your blog entry to the contest so I can read yours, in case I haven't seen it yet.

Woohoo!

Now, to whom should I give that VIP ticket... hmmmm...
