I Miss You, Bro!

Mai's dad is back from his 2 months of work. So, his laptop is back... and I've got time to update once again! Woohoo. This has been long delayed. More than a month! That's how busy I am.

My li'l bro went here to Cebu to spend some time with me and Mai a month ago, around the first week of December. He went to Bohol with friends and if you read my "I hate you" post, you'd probably think I'm overdramatic. It's just me... missing my li'l bro.

I still refer to him as "li'l bro" even if he's already 21 and taller than I am. It's just me and him as siblings so can't really blame me. And, I had to post this photo 'coz he might react again saying na he's pangit sa pic na pinost ko.

Unfortunately, me and Mai were working during that week so we weren't able to tour him around Cebu. We only had him taste steamed rice and dimsum at Harbour City, Cebu's lechon manok, and Shawarma Cebu style. So, it wasn't really an introduction to Cebu culture but I know he understood how hectic our schedule was at that time.

Promise, bro, when you return here, we'll go on leave so we can go to the beach or somethin'.

Anyway, I really enjoyed having him around. I missed him so much. I still miss him a lot...
  • I miss him telling us stories of his latest sexcapades... or latest flings.
  • I miss arguing with him about anything under the sun.
  • I miss his cooking... waahh!
  • I miss his karinyo brutal ways of showing he cares for me.
  • I miss his nonstop singing (he's good, and I'm not saying that 'coz I'm his sis but 'coz he's really good) over our karaoke "machine".
  • I miss scolding him about not coming home for 2 days or not telling Nanay where he is or where he'll be.
  • I miss our teasing each other, which makes other people think we're in a fight or somethin'... he just gets me. Well, yeah, sometimes, it irritates me but I enjoy it hehehe. Barahan to the max!
  • I miss his kalandian. It's like everyday, he's got a new crush or he met or saw someone cute. He'll be all kilig telling us about it.
  • I miss his know-it-all attitude. Nakakatawa kasi hehehe. Peace, bro!
  • I miss seeing how vain he is... it takes him like 1 hour to get prepared 'coz of all the hair products, dress "rehearsals" and all that posing in front of the mirror. Kaya headturner, eh. Carry nya lahat.
  • I miss seeing him model his new ukay-ukay finds. Sobrang dalang-dala nya so no one can ever tell that his clothes are from ukay-ukay stores. Magaling magdala. He actually hates buying expensive/signature clothing.
  • I miss hearing his type of music while he's taking a bath or in his room. Yeah, he needs a mood-setter everytime he bathes.
Hay... there are so many things I miss about my bro, Kenneth. Grabeh, nung hinatid nga namin sya sa airport, I was holding my tears. I MISS HIM SO MUCH. Parang ayoko pa sya umuwi. Buti nga, he found a way to stay for a week with us here. Although we didn't spend that much time together 'coz I had work, I'm still thankful he went here. Drama ko pa kasi eh.

Thanks, mahalkoh. If you didn't convince me to talk to him when he arrived in Cebu... if you didn't tell me to swallow my pride, I wouldn't have spent time with Kenneth. Thanks po!

Mai's mama was entertained by my bro's presence din. Even Mai missed him 'coz they really connect when they talk about naughty stuff. Ma-PR talaga ang bro ko. I'm more picky with friends kaya I'm not really like him.

When we left Kenneth sa airport, ayun... hagulgol na ako. FYI, this is the first time I'm living away from my family. It's hard at times 'coz I really miss them but I'm doing much better now. Can't wait to go visit them back in Manila! Gosh!

Here are some photos of him with me, Mai and Ann (Mai's younger sis) during his visit here...
The "Jill pose". Our fave pose together.
Laki eyebags ko, gosh.

Ang mag-"bayaw" @ Ayala Center, Cebu
We only toured my bro sa Ayala Center and SM. Bwahaha.

MhelKen Food Stop/Bakery,etc.

Kunwari, kanya.

Sweet! Teka, hoy, di pwede! Incest!
Ken with Ann-ann (Mai's sis)

That's it. Wish we had more time with him. Anyway, there's still summer or after his graduation this year.

BRO, I MISS YOU SO MUCH!

I hope your Edward will take care of you.

Take care of Nanay and Tatay for me, huh?

I LOVE YOU! *MWUAHUGZ*

Movie Review - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt & Cate Blanchett) - Nonsense!

Have you watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett?!

If you haven't, don't waste your time watching it.

It's almost 3 hours of bullshit. Trust me.

There were parts that were good... but that's just about 1/100 of the movie.

I wonder why Brad and Cate accepted this movie. Well, not all good actors get good projects anyway.

We didn't like the story... it's fiction but it just doesn't make any sense.

Growing old backwards? Growing younger? Aging backwards? Whatever you want to call it. It's just nonsense. Where did all the bones and skin go? Magic? Sheesh.

I don't understand why people compared this movie to Forrest Gump. This movie is not even a millimeter close to how good Forrest Gump was. And I don't know why people gave good comments/reviews for this movie on IMDB. I don't see it. Yeah, the actors were good. But the whole story didn't make any sense.

If you've seen the movie Jack by Robin Williams, that's a better movie than this one. He ages quickly and it had more sense than this Benjamin Button story.

We continued on watching it, against our better judgment, 'coz we were really hoping that it's actually a good movie, as what Mai's cousin told her. But, really, didn't make any sense. At the end of the movie (finally), we were like... "That's it? Are you kidding me?!"

So, word of warning, please, please, don't watch this movie. Or you'll regret it, like we did.

American Idol Season 8 - My Faves So Far

Finally, American Idol's new season is here! And, as always, we begin the season with crazy and amazing auditions from American Idol wannabes.

Last season's winner, David Cook, was pretty amazing. It was their biggest season ever because of 19+ million votes on the finale. I hope this season, they'll have better talent.

This season, it seems that there are more talented and better looking people who are trying out. And, of course, we already have our faves. But before I go there, I want to commend them for keeping American Idol as interesting as it is now - by introducing a new judge. Finally, a female judge who makes sense in the show.

Meet Kara Dioguardi (did I spell her name right?). Take note, her first name's pronounced as Keh-Ruh, not Kuh-Ruh or Kah-Ruh. She's really pretty and I like her spunky attitude. Mai has a big crush on her. Who wouldn't?! She's a songwriter/hitmaker who've worked with Pink, Jewel, Celine Dion and the Pussycat Dolls. I have a lesbian crush on her! Hahaha.

It was funny, though, when 1 of the auditioners dissed her singing. If you watched that 1st ep, that's this girl. Didn't care remembering her name. Simon let her go to Hollywood just 'coz she's trouble, that's all. Kara shouldn't have stooped down to her level. But it was funny, Kara standing up and saying "Wait a minute, bitch" like all hell's gonna break loose. Didn't like that part. Even Paula tried to stop her. LOLz.

Anyway, I'm still happy Kara's on the show now. I'm bored with Randy and Paula, and all that bashing between the 3 judges. This show needs someone like her... someone aside from Simon that makes sense. Hah!

Alright... on to my fave American Idol wannabes. First stop was in Phoenix, Arizona. Here are my faves...

Emily Wynne-Hughes - She's so cool. I love her personality, I love her voice, I love her! I hope she'll go farther than the female rocker in last season (forgot her name, that's how boring she was!).
Arianna Afsar - She's only 16 but she surprised me with her voice. I thought she's all cutesy, irritating and all that but she wasn't! And she's even kind. I hope she makes it to the semi-finals. She even made Simon smile like this... AAAWWWW

Michael Sarver - He's a roughneck (someone who works in an oil-drilling rig) and his voice completely shocked me.

Next stop... Kansas City, Missouri.

Casey Carlson - She's so pretty. Her voice wasn't all that but she's really lovable. Another Katharine McPhee?
Michael Castro - He's Jason Castro's brother - the cool Castro. Kara loved his ballsy attitude towards the show and his brother. Me, too. Let's see up to where that personality will take him.
Danny Gokey - No, he's not Robert Downey Jr. Hehehe. We love him not just 'coz he looks like a sensitive guy (his wife died a few weeks before the audition) but he's really soulful. Hope he goes far!
Asa Barnes - Now, this guy, I like 'coz he was able to carry a Michael Jackson tune without messing the song up. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the finals.
Anoop Desai - If you think Indians were just good as tech support or call center reps, think again. Okay, that was bad. But I actually liked Anoop. His voice was the biggest surprise for me. Hmmm... a nerd but he's got personality. I hope he gets far.
Lil Rounds - She's the 2nd best female voice I've heard so far this season. I just hope she has more personality than Lakisha so she can make it to the finals.

That's about it! I'm pretty excited to see the next auditions. But I hate the fact that they brought back the Hollywood group performances. That really ruins it for most of the contestants. Tsk. But, we'll see...

How about you? Who's your fave so far?

Happy New Year! Welcome, 2009!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

Some people say it’s bad luck to feel sad on New Year’s eve. But, really, who can blame me? This is the first time I’m celebrating Christmas and New Year away from my family. And, I was at work when the clock hit 12 midnight to welcome the new year.

Yeah, I was at work on both holidays. It sucked big time. This is what I don’t like working in a call center – most of the time, you celebrate the holidays at work. Sheesh. But, what can I do. I chose to work here knowing the fact that I don’t get to spend the holidays with my family and loved ones. That’s one of the major sacrifices of call center employees. So, those people who say that working in a call center means no hard work or less sacrifices, better think again.

I was able to talk to my nanay, tatay and brother before midnight. I was trying to imagine what they were doing but I decided to cut it ‘coz I was just getting depressed. Mai was already taking in calls by 11:30pm so I didn’t spend it with her either. I was all alone at the rooftop/terrace, looking at fireworks all around me.

I told myself, I can’t let this depress me. Bad for the new year. So, I decided to join my program’s countdown to the new year. That made me feel a li’l better. I may not be close to them yet but at least, I stopped feeling so alone.

Now, I wonder why celebrating the coming of the New Year is crazier than celebrating Christmas here in the Philippines . I doubt that Americans celebrate New Year more than we do ‘coz of the heavy queue of calls today. On Christmas day, we had high availability. Culture differences, I guess. But, wait, I'm forgetting the fact that we're ahead by 12 hours at most.

Wikipedia describes celebration of the New Year as a MAJOR global event. Different countries celebrate in their own ways. We’re ahead by 12 hours at most so we celebrate it earlier than Americans.

Maybe, the reason why welcoming the New year is crazier is because we spend it, most of the time, with friends. Christmas is more intimate so most Pinoys celebrate it with their families.

Almost everyone here was greeting each other. Heck, even people I don’t know greeted me a Happy New Year. Another reason could be that we’re expected to welcome the New Year with a bang – I mean with fireworks, loud music or anything noisy to drive away evil spirits, as the Chinese say.

Whatever the reason is, I wish I’ll spend my next New Year’s eve with my family in Manila and my partner Mai.

How about you, my dear readers? Where did you spend your New Year’s eve?

Again, I WISH YOU ALL A BLESSED 2009!
