Last night, we watched Hachiko: A Dog's Story starring Richard Gere and Joan Allen. It's a movie based on the true story of the bond between an abandoned dog named Hachi and the professor in Japan who took him into his home and his life. It's a very touching story, perfect for dog lovers out there. I was really teary-eyed during the last parts of the movie. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it yet. If you love dogs like I do, you have to watch it!
After watching this movie, I began to wonder how they made the dog who played Hachi (his real name is Forest) that close to Richard Gere that both their acting were superb and looked genuine. I've always wondered the same thing in other movies like this where the actors need to deal with pets that weren't theirs. I mean, how can they be that close to those animal actors that they made the relationship look real on the widescreen? With Hachiko, I'm guessing they had Richard Gere bond with Forest for weeks before they started shooting the movie. Seriously, if you already watched the movie, do you agree with me? The closeness was way believable that it really saddened me when something bad happened in the last part of the movie. Not revealing it. Just watch it.
Mai and I made this pact to download movies and watch one flick weekly. We've been so engrossed with the TV series NCIS that we've been missing out on watching the latest movies. Last week, we TRIED to watch New Moon, but I decided to cut it short because it was so dang boring (no offense to Twilight fans). I was forwarding the flick to the part where Jacob's half-naked. Seriously. *LOL* I tried to endure the horrible acting, storyline and dialogue, but I just couldn't take it so I stopped the movie and deleted it immediately. Mai was laughing hysterically because she didn't really want to watch it, but I insisted. *LOL*
Everyone in my family are movie buffs. So, my brother and I used to download free movies or use movie-streaming sites for our mom. She barely can go out to watch movies because she's so busy working. I find it hard to find a movie she'd like, though, because there aren't a lot out there that can make her stay in front of the TV to watch the movie in its entirety. I guess I got that from her so I don't totally enjoy watching movies in the cinema. I prefer having the freedom to pause what I'm watching whenever I need to. *LOL*
