Losing Weight Before 2011

In our quest to lose the pounds we gained over the 4 years we've been together, Mai and I came up with plans that we vowed to stick to so we'll shed the excess weight before Christmas season comes. I'm extremely committed because I miss my old, slim self. My skinny jeans is waiting in my closet so it's really about time to take this losing weight seriously.

  • We've already started with reducing our rice daily intake. Before, Mai and I would consume about 3-5 cups of rice each for a meal. There are even times we had more, depending on the main dishes we're having.RiceWe started last month at 2 cups. Now, we're at 1 1/2 cup of rice every meal. After a few weeks at this, our tummies (and brains) already got used to the amount of rice we're getting and we now feel full before we even consume all that rice.

  • We added yogurt to our diet. We wanted a healthier tummy through better digestion. Mai no longer suffers from acidic stomach after we started with having yogurt at least twice a week. I also feel better because of it. I don't get that bloated feeling anymore, especially after dinner.

  • Mai and I are planning on buying a personal refrigerator for our room. This way, we can keep fresh vegetables and fruits, and also our yogurt, conveniently inside our room so we can snack on veggies instead whenever we crave for junk food.

We're hoping that by June, we'll be able to do this. We're kind of in a tight budget now because we still need a few more things for our internet cafe.

  • Mai and I would be starting our Taebo exercises at least three times a week. This would happen in June or after the weather's tolerable for heavy workouts. We both can't stand the heat so we know we'd just end up not committing to it if we do it now. Plus, I usually catch my breath because of the heat so I really prefer to do it when the weather's a bit cooler. ProForm 590 E

  • We're also planning on purchasing ellipticals so we won't have to go to the gym for our workouts. I wanted to do this because we might get bored from the Taebo exercises. We get bored easily so getting an elliptical trainer would really help.

I was actually considering buying a treadmill instead. My brother preferred treadmills over ellipticals because he knows the former would help strengthen our bones. However, I wanted to make sure that our dad can also use the exercise machine we'd buy so we decided on getting an elliptical trainer instead. Plus, they tend to give the body a full workout without too much strain on the body, which is actually the main reason why I liked it better.

  • Mai and I argued about my love for desserts. I know I have to get rid of my craving for anything sweet if I really want to lose the weight. Now, I'm really fighting the urge to  drink Coke in these hot summer days and I'm now controlling my consumption of this Sponge party pack we bought a month ago.Oishi-SpongeI really hope I can stay away from sweets. Whenever I get that craving, I just look back at how I was able to quit smoking. If I was able to do THAT (trust me, it was damn hard for me), I can get rid of my addiction to sweets.

Those are a few of the concrete plans we have come up with in our quest to lose the weight before this year ends. I really hope we'll be successful. Wish us luck!

  1. It's good to set a longterm goal unlike most people who just wants to look great for the summer. So many people say that they want to lose 20+ pounds in less than a month or two are failing to do so.

  2. I wish you success in your goal to lose weight. You can make it --just stay disciplined.
But one tip I can share with you---don't be stressed out also in reaching your goal because stress may lead to over eating or going back to the old ways. And also just eat WHEN you're hungry.
