Our Internet Cafe's Effect on our Eyesight

I've mentioned a few posts ago that I've been wearing eyeglasses since I was in third grade. And, now, it seems that my partner Mai might need to have her eyes checked, too. We're both in front of our computers most of the day because we own and manage our internet cafe. We have no choice, but, to stay in front of our computers because, first, Mai's computer serves as our internet cafe's server so all logins and sales are entered on it. Second, my laptop computer is where I do all my photo editing and designs for our photo printing service. I also use my laptop for my online money-making programs, and, of course, maintaining and updating my blogs.

Mai wants to have our eyes checked next week before our scheduled grocery-shopping. I told her I don't want to undergo any eye checkup because I don't want to switch to a higher grade. I haven't had my prescription glasses updated yet to the correct grade because I feel that there's really no need for me to wear anything higher than 9.00. I know that if I started wearing anything higher, it will only worsen my eyesight because I'll, then, get used to the higher grade and I'll require higher prescription glasses the next time around.

Last year, when I had myself checked, the doctor actually confirmed that it's okay if I want to stick with the glasses I'm wearing now. He didn't really confirm that my logic was right, you know, about the tendency for my eyesight to worsen everytime I upgrade, but he wasn't really recommending anything. I was even surprised so I told myself I'll just stick to my prescription glasses.

Mai, on the other hand, really needs to have her eyes checked because she's been experiencing minor headaches for the past weeks. I told her it's because she's too addicted to Heroes of Newerth. Her straight hours of playing has already affected her eyesight. She refused to wear glasses, but I told her if the doctor recommends it, she needs to accept it. She's pretty choosy when it comes to whatever she wears so I searched for glasses online to show her designs that she might like. She didn't like how my glasses looked on her so she wants to pick a stylish frame if she's really going to wear glasses.

I hope, though, that Mai won't have to wear glasses. It's not easy having to wear glasses every single day. I'm trying to remind her not to stare too much and too long at her computer monitor when playing Heroes of Newerth because it'll continue to strain her eyes. I hope I can keep her from wearing glasses someday. I need her to keep her good eyesight when we grow older. :)

My brother "forced" me to post my photo wearing glasses back in high school to compensate for the recent photo of him I posted yesterday *LOL* As you can see, my glasses now are more stylish than that oversized pair I wore back in high school. Ugh. I can't even stand looking at that old photo ID *LOL*
