This is the first year that I’m joining the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs Writing Project for 2010. I’m pretty excited about this and my nominations.
During the completion of this list, I did a lot of blog-hopping and reading. It took me over a month to complete this list because I was struggling in keeping my list at 10 blogs only. I took some things into consideration and finally decided on my Top 10.
Even while I was writing this (August 8th), I was going back and forth with some of my nominations. There are just too many interesting blogs out there, y’know! But, I genuinely believe all the blogs listed below, including my blog (that’s the spirit, Mhel! *grin*), deserve to be this year’s Top 10 Emerging Influential blogs.
Without further ado, here are my nominations…
Arranged in no particular order. The numbering is just to show you that I already have 10 nominations, so you won’t have to count. *LOL*
If you’re a Facebook addict like I am and you love reading about top news, especially in our local entertainment scene (in short, you’re a chismosa/chismoso, too), you definitely would enjoy reading posts on Facebuko. As a frustrated programmer (back in the days), the layout of Facebuko just amazes me. Some of my friends even got confused when I showed them the site.
The author of Facebuko, Jonas Roque, is an artist and a programmer. That alone explains why he got to make his blog look like Facebook. I also love his brand of humor. Bentang-benta, as what we say in Filipino. He just showed the world how creative and imaginative Filipinos can be.
I love Facebuko because of the humor and how it’s done. Jonas uses well-known personalities and TV characters like they were actually posting crazy status messages and comments on Facebook. If I managed to confuse you with that explanation (*LoL), you might as well visit Facebuko. Most of the posts there are in Filipino/Tagalog, by the way.
Yes, I am shamelessly nominating my own blog about how I make money online because I believe that I’ve been influential to a lot of my visitors who are striving to make money online, too.
Pinay Online Money Maker was started in October 2009. But, some of my posts there were backdated to May 1, 2009, since I had payment proofs that were dated earlier than my blog’s start date (hope that made sense *LoL*). The main purpose of my blog was to help netizens like me, most especially my fellow Filipinos, on their way to making money online. I have written detailed articles, tips and techniques on this blog as guides on the various ways I make money online (Check out my SITEMAP). I also make sure that my visitors’ questions about my guides, or anything about my trusted online money-making programs are answered as soon as possible. All my posts and answers to questions are based on my actual experience.
The secondary reason why I started this blog was because I wanted to gain more referrals. Yes, I admit, that’s really part of it, but I don’t trick people into joining online money-making programs that I don’t trust or believe in myself. It’s still a blog to me so I tell people exactly what happened or how I managed to earn something. I also post my payment and withdrawal proofs to show my visitors that I do make money online… for REAL.
Okay, I admit. I love reading about the latest local showbiz news/updates. I know most of us love watching showbiz TV shows like The Buzz. Like most of my friends, I want to be the first to know about the latest chika about the most popular showbiz personalities to-date. And this is why I love Darla Sauler‘s blog.
She’s a writer and works for ABS-CBN. She takes advantage of her career to get up-close and personal with the stars and blog about the latest news about the most controversial people in showbiz, especially ABS-CBN/Star Magic talents. She also posts exclusive photos of them on her blog.
Darla’s blog is also fun to read and she keeps it exciting for her readers everytime. By the way, she calls herself “ABS-CBN’s Prettiest” and you couldn’t help but agree, especially after seeing the photos of all the stars who agrees with her – just look at the photos on her blog’s header.
The first time I saw The Creative Dork, I was amazed to find such a very relaxing and clean layout. The header really attracts people’s attention and you’d even be drawn into reading what the author has written.
That’s exactly why I love The Creative Dork and I’ve decided to add it to my list of nominations. Not only that, Robbie‘s (the author) blogging style keeps visitors interested by injecting humor into his work and blog posts every chance he gets. He’s also a graphics designer whose work already got featured in Manila Bulletin. He mainly shares his work and tutorials on this blog.
From the design of his blog and the way he writes, you can tell the Dork is a really cool and funny dude. That’s why he gained me as a new follower.
If you’ve visited our food blog – Certified Foodies – you’d know that although I love to cook, too, I love mixing drinks more. I also love drinking socially and trying out different cocktails or alcoholic drinks I can find on the menu. I just feel a meal’s not complete without a good drink, may it be coffee, tea, cocktail or a regular fruit shake. And this is why I love The Thirsty Blogger.
It’s a completely unique blog to me because Fitz, the author, features or writes about beverages or drinks he’s tried and even shares recipes for all of us to try. He took food blogging to the next, deeper level. He also writes about his foodie adventures and travels. As a food blogger and lover myself, I completely enjoy his blog, which is why The Thirsty Blogger made it to my list this year.
I also recently found out about this blog – Fat Girl No More – and all I can say is I can relate to Ria‘s (the author) struggle with weight. But, that’s not why I chose her blog to be on my Top 10. What I love about her blog is the honesty and the confidence I can feel from how she shares her struggles and triumphs in losing weight. Not everyone, particularly women, feel comfortable sharing their stories about being fat and going on diets, especially to everyone on the world wide web, and so I admire her for that.
Stories and blogs like Fat Girl No More can really inspire and affect others to make them realize that being fat is not ugly. We just need to be comfortable with our own weight and not let anyone tell us we suck at life ’cause we’re fat. You will NEVER lose weight and stay healthy at the same time, no matter how hard you try, if you let your insecurities control you. And this is exactly what I see on Ria’s blog, which makes her deserving of a spot in my Top 10.
I met Carlos, the foodie blogger behind Foodie Manila, during the Glutamax The New Me awarding that I attended in April this year. He was there taking photos and I found out he’s from Nuffnang. He was REALLY friendly and we got to talk about our blogs. He mentioned that he started his blog Foodie Manila to feature dishes that he prepare at home. He said that he loves cooking and that’s what inspired him to start the blog. I guess his passion for food and photography brought about the evolution of his blog. He now includes reviews and features of restaurants that invited him to write about them on his blog. All I can say is he deserves all the popularity and support (sponsorship, viewership, etc.) that he’s getting because I believe he’s a genuinely warm person who is truly passionate about food and photography.
Since our food blog, Certified Foodies, just started, Carlos’ blog really inspires me, especially with how he takes photos of his food subjects. I sure wish our food blog would be as successful as Foodie Manila.
Erica (ericaorange) owns and maintains this blog. Tara Na is a travel and food blog, which is why I love it. I recently just found out about her blog and loved her Philippine Independence day posts where she shared photos she took when they went to Kawit, Cavite and visited Emilio Aguinaldo’s home. I’ve been to Cavite, but, never got the chance to travel around the place.
Erica shares her adventures on Tara Na as she tries to achieve her goal – “to travel the world bit by bit“. And I strongly believe that should start with visiting the beautiful places here in our country first before moving on to other countries. I hope I’ll have that chance to travel, too, as I’ve never been anywhere south, but, Cebu.
Another reason why I’ve added Tara Na to my Top 10 is because of the photos she shares with her visitors. I also love photography so we share the same interests. I believe we don’t really need a DSLR camera to take beautiful photos. It’s all about the heart behind the camera.
When in Manila is a blog by 2 Pinoys, Vince and Francis, where they write about, well, Manila. They blog about the latest happenings in the metro and, from time to time, they also share some crazy, funny, fake news or videos that can make you laugh your a$$ off.
I remember watching this video about how to avoid being kidnapped when in Manila. I read the comments left by some viewers who thought it was a serious discussion on how to avoid such incident. *LOL* I was really laughing while I was listening to John O’ Sullivan’s tips for foreigners to not fall victims to kidnappers in the Philippines, especially his first tip – “blending in”. *LOL* Too cute!
But, seriously, if you’re a foreigner and you are planning on visiting the Philippines, particularly Metro Manila, you can also find helpful tips on travelling in the Philippines and where to go.
The reason why I love, love, love this blog is summed up on the About page of this blog, so I’ll just quote Didi, the author of The Blogging Advertiser, on why current and wannabe bloggers and advertisers should read her blog:
BIG DREAMS FOR THE BLOG
It then dawned on me that there are a lot of knowledge gaps on both sides: the blogger and the advertiser. And, more importantly, I actually have a unique point of view: the insider views of an advertiser and the insights of an avid blog reader and blogger.
This is why I created this blog. It is and will be an educational platform for:
- Bloggers to learn more about advertising
- Advertisers to learn more about blogging.
As most of my dear readers and my offline and online friends already know, I make money online and I am marketing myself and my blogs so I can increase my earnings. I also want to establish myself as a blogger who people come to for information or someone they trust online.
This is why The Blogging Advertiser is really interesting and informative. Didi shares tips and information that are really helpful to bloggers like me as I learn what advertisers look for and how they think so I can improve my “market value” as a blogger. Her blog is a MUST-READ and MUST-BOOKMARK, trust me.
That’s it! My Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2010. I’m sorry if you didn’t make it to my list this year. It was a bit heart-breaking to only choose 10, but, I had to.
