Do You Tutor your Kids Yourself?

After a long day at our internet cafe, one of the things I love to do is watch my favorite TV series. And, one of them that I really enjoy is Criminal Minds. I love all the characters, but, I particularly enjoy the out of this world intelligence of Dr. Spencer Reid, played by Matthew Gray Gubler.

Who would've thought that we can actually use our knowledge of prime numbers in our everyday lives? Well, Reid shows us everything we learned in our Math or Science subjects back in the days can actually be useful in real life. Seriously. I can completely relate to him and how the people around him are amazed by his intelligence. Okay, I'm not trying to put myself on a pedestal. I'm just saying I'm happy that I get to help a lot of people back in those days when I was still a student. And, I'm happy that I get to also apply what I've learned from my Math and Science subjects today.

I have mentioned before that I'm one of the lucky ones who were good in Math, Chemistry and Physics back in my school days. I was the one most of my classmates and friends would come to for help with Math questions given to us by our Algebra, Geometry or Trigonometry teacher. I was even asked by one of my cousins to tutor her daughter. My mother also assigned me to help my brother with his Chemistry homework. I mean, if I pursued being a Math tutor during or after college, I would've earned a lot already even before I finished my schooling.

Actually, my mom tried to convince me back then to work as a Math tutor while I'm studying. But, the stress of studying at UP Diliman was too much for me to even think about becoming a part-time tutor. And, as much as I want to become a Math tutor now, I prefer to teach English because I wouldn't have to worry about restudying what I learned. Hehehe.

However, I know if I have kids in the future, I would want to tutor them myself. I did enjoy helping others and sharing my knowledge with them so I know I'll also enjoy doing so with my future kid/s.

Do you tutor your own kid or do you let them learn by themselves?
I know of someone who hired a tutor to help her kids even though she's on top of her class.
She's a stay-at-home mom and I don't know why she preferred having someone else tutor her kids.
So, I wonder how other moms out there help their kids with their schooling.
Pleaes share your stories with me.
