Hope is Paralyzing

I've been hearing this a lot on one of my favorite TV series. Do you agree that hope is paralyzing?

I somewhat agree because you get stuck in the moment because you're still hopeful things will change, that things will be better, that there's sunshine after the rain. You refuse to move on and to live your life because you feel that there's something really good coming. But, what if you're really waiting for nothing? When will you stop?!

I've always been a positive or optimistic person. I usually look at the glass as half-full. But, sometimes, optimism can really cripple you because you tend to expect too much and it prevents you from doing something else with your life and you continue to believe that there's something good that will happen.

It's like when you're addicted to gambling. You refuse to stop playing because you feel you'd be lucky the next time, that you'll get back whatever you've already given out.

Sometimes, it's hard to admit that you were wrong to expect. It's painful to give up the hope, really, but, if your life is wasting away because of it, why let it continue? *sigh*

Just some random rant. Thanks to anyone who read this.
