Effects of My Extended Computer Use

Because of our internet cafe, I am in front of my laptop more than 12 hours a day. All printing jobs (document and photos) go through my laptop. I design templates for photos, invitations, etc., since that's also one of our services. I also do other things online like blogging, looking for giveaways/contests to join, designing themes (I've got 4 in queue now), making money online and blog hopping. I'm trying to multi-task to get everything done as soon as possible, but, with everything I do online and offline in front of my laptop, I'm beginning to experience the bad effects of staying on my laptop for hours.

For the past weeks, I started experiencing pain on my right wrist and arm. I'm guessing it's because of the mouse. I was using a slightly heavy mouse before the pain started. I tried to ignore it just so I won't have to buy a new mouse, but, it started to become a bit unbearable.

Mai bought me a new mouse back in June. See the picture below. It's an A4Tech Glaser mouse and the LED changes colors. I don't really like anything that colorful, but, I'm starting to be fond of it. My hand and wrist are comfortable using it, but, I still experience pain most of the time when moving the mouse. It might look heavy, but, it's actually light.

Yesterday, Mai and I looked for office furniture that I could use to make myself more comfortable while at our internet cafe, doing my usual tasks. And, we decided to purchase this computer table arm rest from CDR-king (we had no choice 'cause we couldn't find anything like it anywhere else).

Mai installed it last night. She had to saw off about half an inch of wood from our counter just so she can screw the whole arm rest on the table. Here's how it looks on my side of the counter table now. Please, ignore the mess. LOLz.

If you're interested in buying one, CDR-King sells it for Php 380. Their website shows it's only Php 200, but, they have a different store price. They suck, I know, but, I couldn't really find anything like it elsewhere. When we go to Gilmore or Greenhills next time, I'll find something like this. I was desperate to ease the pain on my wrist so I opted to buy this even without a warranty.

Anyway, what we're planning on buying next is a mouse with trackball. I really need it to protect my wrist from further pains. The one on the left on the picture below is Logitech's Trackman Wheel, which is what I'm planning on buying. Mai prefers the one on the right, which is Logitech's Cordless Optical Trackman, just like what they use in NCIS. I'll let you know once we've already purchased these.

My question today is...

What have you done to make yourself comfortable
while in front of your computer or laptop?

Do you have some tips or suggestions for me?

Let me know at the comments section. Thanks!
