Last week, my best friend of two decades (yes, 20 years!) came over and spent the night at my house for some bonding time. It's been too long since we last talked and we both needed someone to have a real conversation with because of the recent changes in our lives.
I ordered pizza and we bought beer for our overnight bonding. I also had my brother cook spaghetti for us. My BFF Tina is also a foodie like me so I know we couldn't go without food and a li'l booze. *LOL* There were no Colt 45 available at the store near our home so we opted for San Mig Light.
As the title of this blog post says, Tina is getting married! I was pretty shocked when I found out. Here's how I learned about it:
Me (text): Gurl, (I told her about my problem, an ending...).
Tina (text): What? Are you okay? Re-sched ko yung pagpapasukat ko ng wedding gown ko. I'm getting married in December by the way.
Me (text): WHAT?!?!?!
Of course, I completely forgot about my problems and I only wanted to talk to her about her upcoming wedding! It was crazy! *LOL* I didn't let her re-schedule anything that has to do with her wedding! I told her she can accommodate me next week. And, so, October 9th it was.
When she told me about her plans of permanently living at her husband-to-be's home somewhere up north, I got a li'l sad 'cause I'll definitely miss her. But, I know she's happy with her decision. She's in love! And I really wish her the best.
I won't miss her wedding in December, of course. I'm not in her wedding entourage 'cause they're mostly her cousins, her sister (her maid of honor) and her husband-to-be's relatives. I might bring my mother and my bro with me since it'll be a long trip back to Manila after. Plus, we're planning on going to Baguio or Vigan after the wedding. ^_^
Now, one of the things that I'm worrying about is what gift I will give her. I usually give away personalized gifts for special people in my life. But, since it's the wedding of my BFF, I need something personal and something practical as a gift to her and her husband, right? I've got a list prepared already, but I'll just finalize it by next month.
A li'l background about my friendship with Tina. I consider her as my BFF (best friend forever) because of everything we've been through together. She accepted me wholeheartedly. She understands me without any judgment. I'm the same towards her. We did have our own quarrels back in our younger days. I guess it made our friendship stronger.
What I love about my friendship with Tina is we both can be ourselves when we're together. We don't have to think about what we say, what we do or what the other person would feel because we know, it'll all be okay. We've been through worse. It's really refreshing and I miss being myself. We may not see or talk with each other as often as most BFFs out there, but we both know we're here for each other NO MATTER WHAT. I love her for being the Tina I've known since Grade 4. :)
Tina,
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I am SO HAPPY for you. I'm so glad you found the person you want to spend your whole life with. I hope and pray you both will stay in love and happy together for eternity.
Thank you for the genuine friendship we shared. Just remember, wherever you are, whoever you're with, I am here for you.
I love you, gurl! *hugs*
