Some of you might not know yet, but my last "professional" job was a call center supervisor. I never really thought I'd be good at handling people, but I was. I believe I still am. I guess that it's all because all my life, I've dealt with different kinds of people with different kinds of personalities, temperaments, skills, ways of thinking and levels of emotional stability (yes, you read that right) and maturity. I learned how to be a chameleon just to get along with them.
And now that I'm handling my own business, even in my humble computer shop, I can say that I'm able to apply my inter-personal skills to draw our customers to stick with us no matter what. I guess that's why our sales / earnings are really starting to pick up.
One thing I know that I need to change, though, is my skills in sales talk. Honestly, I never was good at sales jobs or tasks that I was assigned to do back when I was working in call centers. As a supervisor, yes, I can convince our customers to believe in me and what I'm offering is the best deal. It wasn't really because I was good in sales, but simply because they saw me as someone with authority.
Now, at our computer shop, when a customer doesn't agree with my price or rate for a service that we provide, I usually just tell them I couldn't (don't want to, actually) adjust the price anymore, especially when they're first time customers. *LOL* I know! I guess that's also why I'm not good with bargaining. Hahaha. I hate when people go cheapo on me when I know my service is worth every penny (or peso for that matter).
I'll be offering more services in the coming days so I really need to work on my sales talk. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to that, so if I want to earn more, I need to do something to improve, right? I've tried the big, sparkling smile, convincing them that others charge the same amount, if not higher, and all that jazz. Sometimes, it would work. Other times, they'd bring their business elsewhere. I need to work on being more convincing with my sales talk. Good luck with that, Mhel! *LOL*
