I know, we use our mobile phones for sending text messages and calling. But, aside from these, what's the use of your cell phone to you and your lifestyle?
I own a Nokia 5230 phone and although it doesn't have Wi-Fi, I'm pretty satisfied with it and I'm actually maximizing its features. Let me share with you what I use my phone for.
I use my phone as my alarm clock. I know there are a lot of other people like me who use their phones as their wakeup alert or alarm. I don't have an actual alarm clock, so I use my phone instead.
Right now, I've got Lady Gaga's Bad Romance as my alarm tone. I used to change my alarm tone after a few months, but I don't think I can find any other song that I actually like and would be perfect as my alarm tone. Any ideas?
I use it as a watch. I don't wear a watch. I guess I was traumatized after the last time I wore a watch and someone snatched it from me. So, I use my cell phone instead. Well, it's still not safe taking my cell phone out, but I learned how to stop looking at the time. I guess that contributed to my being a li'l more patient.
Since my Nokia 5230 phone can display times in different timezones, I have it set so I know what time it is all over the world, especially in Europe. No particular reason, but it's one of the li'l crazy things I do. Hehehe.
I use it to take note of things that I don't want to forget. And that includes ideas for my next blog post, stuff I want to search on the web or download, etc. I admit, I have a li'l problem remembering things because of too many ideas in my head, especially nowadays that I've got worries about our offline business.
I use it for my grocery list. Whenever I remember to buy something next time I shop, I take note of it on my phone. Then, I write them all down on my small notebook so I can organize them – items that I'll find in the same aisle will be written one after the other. How OC, right? *LOL*
I use it for taking photos. Okay, the image resolution of my Nokia 5230 isn't good. I still prefer to use a digital camera, but for times when I can't take it out or I don't want to make it look obvious that I'm taking a photo (*grin*), I use my phone's camera instead. Anyway, I can apply post-processing later. Hihihi.
I bet some of you do this, too. I usually pretend I'm texting or writing something, but in reality, I was taking a photo. I usually do this when I'm on a cab and I want to take a photo of the plate # and name of the taxi company.![]()
I use it for Bluetooth transfers in our internet cafe. My laptop's Bluetooth capabilities is not always working properly, so I decided to just use my phone and download the photos to my computer afterwards. It's faster than having the customer wait for my laptop's Bluetooth to see their phone.
I use it as my scheduler and reminder of important events. Because I sleep late and too many things going on in my head, I sometimes have to remind me of important dates like my friends' birthdays, announcement of winners for a contest I joined, premiere of a movie I'm looking forward to see, etc. I usually lose track of time and date so I'm glad I have my phone to help me with that.
I use it as a backup cafe timer. *LOL* Yes, I do. Well, there are times that our cafe timer will act up because of some kid who's too impatient to wait for the games to load. So, I use it to alert me that the kid's time is up on our client computer.
Those are just a few of the things I use my mobile phone for. My Nokia 5230 phone doesn't have a lot of functionalities that most mobile people would need, but hey, I have my laptop and my brand new iPad with me anyway. I can do everything else on them. *wink*
How about you?
