Pay It Forward (Day 26 #100HappyDays)

Okay, nothing really happened today that suits the title except reading this article about someone who helped a mother by paying for their groceries. Hearing stories of random acts of kindness make my heart melt… and make me happy. πŸ™‚ Being kind to strangers is not an easy thing to do for many peopleΒ because we’ve been exposed to how bad others can get. So it makes me smile, and even shed a tear or two, when I read stories like this of pure kindness.

Random act of kindness

I have to admit, I can sometimes be cynical when it comes to giving alms to beggars. But I have had many chances to pay it forward, in my own little ways. I may not particularly remember every single one of those moments, but I feel like it’s not for me to remember. I hope that everyone I helped felt that there are still many of us who are willing to reach out and lend a helping hand.

No act of kindness is ever wasted

I have yet to perform a remarkable act of kindness, but I feel the little good deeds matter too. Helping an elderly climb up a jeepney or bus. Giving the homeless you see on the street some food (not leftovers) so they can eat for the day. Being respectful towards the wait staff, janitors, etc. Even a smile can help brighten up someone’s day. There are many things we can do to be kind to others, and majority of them don’t need you to shell out any money. We just need to pay attention and empathize.

My small acts of kindness didn’t just make the people I helped feel better, but it warmed my heart and soul. I’ve been blessed and lucky, so why shouldn’t I pay it forward? πŸ™‚

Little bits of good

Sleeping With the A/C On (Day 25 #100HappyDays)

If I’d be given a chance to move somewhere cold, where there’s snow, I’d take it. I’m generally not a summer person because here in the Philippines, it can get really hot, and turning on the A/C to cool you down will cause you thousands of pesos in additional expenses per month. The past 2 months, I’ve had an increase of Php 3,000-5,000 in our electricity bill.

I realized in the past week that I don’t care about the bill this month anymore. I need to sleep comfortably. So, I decided to turn on the A/C the whole time I was sleeping today and just set an alarm in the late afternoon when I know it’s a li’l colder. I woke up feeling well rested and ready to take on the world… or my tasks at work. πŸ˜€

Sleeping comfortably

This is what I’m gonna do again tomorrow until we get to our colder weather again in May hopefully. πŸ™‚

Oh, I’m thinking of buying a split-type, inverter a/c unit, and selling off our current ones. It’s a bit costly, but at least I know I can turn on the a/c for a longer period of time without spending more than half of my salary to pay the electricity bill. πŸ˜€

Earning Through Blogging (Day 24 #100HappyDays)

I started blogging back in 2008 with this site, and now, I have a total of (*counts with fingers*) 8 blogs, 4 of which I actively update. When I started, I only wanted to write and didn’t think about earning money from my blogs, but when I decided to start my finance blog, it was when I realized the potential of making money through blogging.

Fast forward to 2014, I earn a pretty decent amount from my blogs. They’re mostly advertisements placed by different companies (local and international). And for March, I earned enough to finance an upcoming vacation for my family of 3! Cool, eh? πŸ˜€

There are many perks when it comes to blogging, but it takes time to build authority, whether it’s through Pagerank or number of subscribers/readers. I’m just thankful and happy that I’m given a chance to earn extra money doing something I love. πŸ™‚

How I Met Your Mother : I’ll Miss You! (Day 23 #100HappyDays)

After almost 3 years of watching the show (yes, I got to it 6 years late), I saw the last 2 episodes of one of my favorite series – How I Met Your Mother. I already miss the gang of Robin, Lily, Marshall, Barney and, of course, Ted Mosby. πŸ™‚

How I Met Your Mother

SPOILER ALERT! If you don’t want to know what happened in the finale, don’t read any further. Stop right here! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

I was crying almost the entire time I was watching the final episodes. Though the show wasn’t always brilliant (c’mon, even Friends had its ups and downs – and I LOVED that series!), it was one of my favorites because it’s lighthearted, the cast and characters are adorable (yes, even Barney!), and I can somehow relate to Ted Mosby. πŸ™‚

I Love Videos of Pets and Other Animals (Day 22 #100HappyDays)

Okay, so I cheated in my #100HappyDays posts. Well, not completely. I have my daily posts all typed up on my phone as WordPress blog drafts, but since I wanted to add photos before publishing, it took me a few days to get them all up. I should be able to catch up on my entries again this week. I’ll just publish them right away and add the photos at a later time so I can keep up. πŸ˜‰

If you’ve been reading this blog, you already know I love dogs and cats. But I actually like many animals, and if only I can show you the history of all the videos I’ve watched all these years, you’ll mostly see that the subjects were animals. Yes, I love watching them because I am amazed by these creatures, especially those that we can adopt and care for as pets. So imagine how my heart melted after watching the video below. I swear, I was smiling the whole time, and at times, even saying “Awwwww” and laughing out loud. πŸ˜€

Enjoy and feel free to share the video! πŸ™‚
