Tactics to Get You Through the World Cup

Every four years, there comes a time for celebration for football fans and a moment of despair for their wives and girlfriends (and perhaps the other way round in some cases), when the football World Cup comes around.

For some women, their menfolk will simply seem to disappear from view for about four weeks in June while the FIFA World Cup is held in Brazil. So, how best to approach this phenomenon? You can go off and do your own thing, or, you can decide that even though you’re not that into football matches, you can join your man in front of the TV (at home or down at the pub), and get involved in what is one of the most exciting sports spectacles in the world.

FIFA World Cup 2014

This is the first time Brazil has hosted the World Cup in modern times, the last time being in 1950. And if any nation knows how to make football exciting, it’s Brazil. The country holds the record for the most World Cup wins – five – and it looks set to win its sixth this year. Betfair currently has Brazil as the favourite to win, priced at around 3/1.

Having a bet on the World Cup is certainly one way to feel more involved. You can get odds on all kinds of different bets – who will score the winning goal in the final game, which team will be first out, which player will score the most goals during the tournament. You get the idea. Read a few sports articles and take a look at Betfair to see what odds are available. Having some money riding on the outcome of the game adds to the excitement, especially if you’re not that into watching the actual game. And if you place your bets on Betfair, the world’s biggest betting exchange, there are no bookies involved either. It’s just individual punters placing bets and accepting other people’s bets.

If you really see yourself as a football widow, and that you can’t get into the spirit of things at all, then you’ll have to just hope that your man’s team gets knocked out early, and that their interest wanes with that defeat!

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (Day 30 #100HappyDays)

I finally finished all episodes of the only season of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. I’m a HUGE fan of the original series – Once Upon a Time – and this one’s the spin-off, so I decided to download and watch everything too. I have to admit, I initially didn’t like Wonderland because of the bad acting at first and the storyline, but after 8 episodes, I was hooked! 😉

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland

To give you a brief background on OUAT, it’s a twisted take on the fairytales we all heard when we were kids. That’s all I have to say since you have to watch to completely understand the charm of the series. 🙂

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland characters

Anyway, back to Wonderland, at first, I didn’t like the Red Queen and Alice. Eventually, though, I learned to accept the Red Queen. 😀 Alice, hmmm… I’m torn. I’m not particularly familiar with the story of Alice in Wonderland, but I know she’s crazy. Hahahah. Anyway, I’m excited to see Knave of Hearts in the original series Once Upon a Time, in Storybrooke. I hope he’ll be a fun addition to the series. 🙂

Game of Thrones + Something Personal (Day 29 #100HappyDays)

It’s been delayed for months now, and I’m glad it’s back. I hope things will normalize now and get back to it’s monthly schedule again. And, no, this is the personal part of my entry today. If you have no clue what I’m referring to, please, just move on to my GoT entry below. 😛

Finally, after months of waiting, Game of Thrones is back!! I LOVE this series! Sure, there are times when I don’t understand what’s happening or I get confused by the longggggg list of characters, but I enjoy watching every episode. I already have the books lined up on my Kindle so I can read them before I watch the series from season 1 again.

Game of Thrones

Glad our internet connection was cooperating and it took me less than 30 minutes to download the whole episode at full speed. Yay!

My bro is also addicted to the series, and he’s encouraging me to finish the books. I just need to finish Lean In and Eat, Pray, Love, then I’ll move on to the Game of Thrones books. 🙂

I’ll leave you with this video I found: an honest trailer for Game of Thrones. Pretty much summed up what most people think of the show. Hahaha 😀

How I Met Your Mother : I’ll Miss You! (Day 23 #100HappyDays)

After almost 3 years of watching the show (yes, I got to it 6 years late), I saw the last 2 episodes of one of my favorite series – How I Met Your Mother. I already miss the gang of Robin, Lily, Marshall, Barney and, of course, Ted Mosby. 🙂

How I Met Your Mother

SPOILER ALERT! If you don’t want to know what happened in the finale, don’t read any further. Stop right here! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

I was crying almost the entire time I was watching the final episodes. Though the show wasn’t always brilliant (c’mon, even Friends had its ups and downs – and I LOVED that series!), it was one of my favorites because it’s lighthearted, the cast and characters are adorable (yes, even Barney!), and I can somehow relate to Ted Mosby. 🙂

Easy Entertainment with Online Bingo

There are millions of people going online to play bingo every day and if you’ve not yet tried it out for yourself, you may be wondering what the big appeal is. What makes so many people choose bingo above all the other games that are out there, and are just as accessible?

Playing online bingo for entertainment

One of the big attractions about playing online bingo is that you can play at any time of the day or night. There’s no need to wait, there’s always a game about to start. If you go to a sites like bgo and Costa Bingo, you’ll find that there are plenty of different games to choose from. Click to play online bingo at bgo bingo and you’ll find a choice of games to play including those with progressive jackpots, guaranteed jackpots and those that are free to play, even though there’s a real cash prize to play for.

Another big appeal about playing online bingo is that even though the stakes are always low, there’s plenty of incentive to play with the amazing prize jackpots that are on offer. Even some of the free games have some great jackpots up for grabs and the amounts you can win on progressive jackpots can be really huge.

Of course, you could play the lotto as it’s another game that offers big prizes for a low stake, but it’s not as good value as a bingo ticket. You also get an additional benefit playing online bingo that you wouldn’t find in lots of other online games as there’s a social side to it. When you have a bingo ticket in play, you can then enter the bingo chat rooms and meet other players who are enjoying the same game as you. There’s something about the sharing of the experience that increases the amount of fun you get out of a game of bingo. Even if you’re not the one who looks like they’re about to win, it maybe someone you’re chatting to, and it can be pretty exciting if someone in your bingo chat room hits the jackpot. And if you happen to be playing at a quiet time – the middle of the night, for example – you’re never on your own when playing online bingo. There’s always a chat moderator in the chat room, making sure that everyone there is included in the chat and having a good time. If things get quiet, the chat moderator might start an extra chat game, where you have the possibility of winning cash or tickets to other bingo games.

A final reason why so many people choose to play bingo online is that it’s so easy to play. Although the land-based version isn’t exactly complicated, you do have to concentrate on the number calls in order to win, and be quick off the mark too. With the online version, you don’t even have to pay attention to the number calls – the software marks any matching numbers on your cards for you automatically. So you’re able to concentrate on other things – like chatting to your new found friends in the chat rooms!
