Comfortable in My Own Skin (Day 33 #100HappyDays)

As much I hate to admit it, my weight gain in the past 8 years has affected my confidence. I’ve always been the girl who looks good in almost every photo that’s taken of me. I don’t have to pose a certain way to get the right angle of my face that won’t make me look fat. I strut my stuff (hahah) in any outfit I decide to wear. And since I gained weight, all of that has changed.

Beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin

However, in the past year, I realized, along with my decision to lose weight for my health, I shouldn’t let my being overweight control my life. It was a few months ago when I said, I don’t care anymore if people see me in photos now while I’m working my way to losing weight. I was no longer as conscious as before about what I wear or if my tummy is showing when photos are taken. And, guess what, I even bought a swimsuit top for our upcoming Potipot getaway! 😀

I just added this photo after we came back from our vacation. I won’t be posting this anywhere else though. 😛

Divisoria Shopping + KitchenAid (Day 32 #100HappyDays)

Earlier today, I sold 3 of my last client computers to one buyer. And as promised, I decided to buy my bro his own KitchenAid mixer as part of my investment in his small home-based business. We already knew that Quiapo would be his best bet to get it at a more affordable price. We decided to tag along our nanay and go to Divisoria afterwards for some shopping for our upcoming Potipot Island getaway.

There was no stock available of the KitchenAid my bro initially wanted, so he went for the next best thing – their Artisan mixer, which was a li’l more expensive. We had no choice, so we just had to buy it. I love the color of the KitchenAid we got. 🙂

After a few days, he decided to prepare something using his brand-new KitchenAid. Check out these gorgeous French macarons! 🙂

Endorphins Make You Happy! (Day 11 #100HappyDays)

I’m sure you’ve heard of the movie Legally Blonde. One of its contribution to society (and probably the only one) is making it known that endorphins make you happy. 😀

After feeling down the past couple days, I decided to go back to working out again after months of hiatus. And exercise did improve my mood and I’m feeling so much better. 🙂

Whenever I’m feeling down, I play songs that make me wanna dance.. And I fricking dance!! It improves my mood so I can attest to what Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) said. “Endorphins make you happy!“. 🙂

5 Tips on Starting a Healthy Lifestyle

A person’s health is one of their most important assets. Unfortunately, a few risky lifestyle choices can jeopardize a person’s long-term health. Not only will living a healthy lifestyle enhance a person’s physical well-being, it will also help to enhance their mental wellness as well. Here are some of the keys to living a healthy lifestyle.

Leading a healthy lifestyle

Stay hydrated

In order for a person’s body to thrive, it needs to stay properly hydrated at all times. Often times, a person that feels very fatigued may actually be suffering from mild dehydration. Although juice and athletic drinks can hydrate the body, the most effective approach is to drink as much plain water as possible. Even in very cold climates, a sufficient intake of water is still critical.

 

Find time to rest

Sleep deprivation can dramatically affect a person’s daily stamina and ability to stay focused. Many studies have also indicated that a lack of sleep also leads to overeating. Although everyone’s body is different, a good rule of thumb is to try to sleep for at least seven hours. A short power nap during the day could also make a big difference in a person’s overall mood.

 

Work up a sweat

Exercising on a regular basis delivers plenty of health benefits. While strength training is a good idea, cardio may prove to be even more beneficial. To maintain a person’s fitness level, it is advisable to exercise for 30 minutes at least four times a week. Routine workouts will help to reduce stress and promote a good night’s rest.

 

Balanced diet

Eating a balanced diet will help a person to obtain the necessary vitamins and minerals. Due to the fact that some people are deficient in essential nutrients such as Vitamin D and B12, a daily supplement will certainly help a person to acquire the necessary nourishment. If a person minimizes their intake of fatty and sugary foods, they will start getting healthier over time.

 

Do not overindulge in potentially addictive substances

Although there is nothing wrong with an occasional cup of coffee, consuming large amounts of caffeine on a regular basis could cause a lot of problems in the future. Not only will the person’s body develop an addiction to caffeine, their ability to stay asleep during the night will also be compromised. Avoid drinking more than one alcoholic beverage per day.

Eating Fruits Towards Weight Loss

In my quest to losing weight the healthy way (no more diet pills or starving myself), I have committed to eating healthier this time around. I have this newfound faith that food, the right kinds, should help me lose the weight permanently. And one of the additions to my diet now are fruits. In fact, last Sunday, my mom and I brought home almost a basketful of fruits from the grocery to further encourage everyone at home to eat more fruits.

Fruits are known to be nature’s perfect cleansing food. With their fiber content, they can really help flush out toxins and help us burn fat in the process since our system is cleansed from all the unhealthy food intake. You might have heard of various fruit diets, but there’s one fruit in particular that’s getting a lot of raves from people who are planning to lose weight – African mangoes that are used to make African bush mango, a diet and weight loss supplement.

Mangoes are already known for their substantial amounts of dietary fiber, and Vitamins A and C. and even Calcium. But these mangoes in particular are known to target belly fat. And according to studies, these African mangoes don’t only help you lose weight, but also aid in lowering cholesterol and weight management. This is essential for those who can’t seem to keep the weight off after reaching their goal weight.

To that last part, I say, once you’ve already taken on a habit, keep at it even if you reach your goal weight (I talk like I’m an expert eh? LOL). You can adjust your diet, but if you have been exercising before, keep doing it and make it part of your ritual. It doesn’t have to be as strenuous as before, but stay at a pace you know you can continue. This is also one of the things I’m addressing now. I have days the past week that I failed to work out because I slept late or I woke up just a few minutes before work.

Motivation vs Habit

Anyway, going back to the importance of fruits in your weight loss diet, you have to take note that fruits also contain a certain amount of sugar, so we should also do it in proper moderation. Right now, I’m sticking with mangoes (there are no African mangoes here, I believe), bananas, apples, grapes and oranges. I hope this habit will continue because I already feel much better.
