The past few months have been a struggle for me. For some reason, I felt exhausted by everything that’s been happening at home and in my personal life. I wanted a break, even for just a week or so, and thankfully, I was given a chance to take a much-needed vacation… and what’s amazing about this is I’m on my second week now in Baguio – one of my favorite cities here in the Philippines. Woot!
I’ve been feeling depressed lately, especially because of financial concerns and other issues at home. I wanted to pause and not think about everything that’s been making me sad, so I was desperate to take a break. I didn’t know I’d be given a chance to stay here in Baguio for 2 weeks, let alone in a cozy hotel right smack in the middle of the city of Pines. 🙂
I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of cleaning. It’s not really laziness, but mostly because I developed some sort of allergy to dust. So, I either ask our house help to do it for me or I take my time cleaning.
After months of postponing a general clean-up of my room, I finally did it today! Well, okay, not really a complete clean-up, but I managed to organize my vanity table and the area where my printer/scanner/photocopier is located. After our upcoming vacation, I’m planning on cleaning up my entire room.
Yeah, most of the clutter are now inside the drawers hahaha 😛
I actually prefer to do my own cleaning because I’m more meticulous when it comes to ensuring every corner is dusted and cleaned. I sometimes get too OC that I even use an alcohol-soaked tissue, cotton or rug to finish my clean-up. Well, at least that’s what I do with my vanity table, my laptop and desktop’s keyboard and mouse/touchpad, and my office table. 😀
I’m slightly exhausted. I’m feeling a li’l under the weather, but somehow, this made me feel better. 🙂
Okay, so I cheated in my #100HappyDays posts. Well, not completely. I have my daily posts all typed up on my phone as WordPress blog drafts, but since I wanted to add photos before publishing, it took me a few days to get them all up. I should be able to catch up on my entries again this week. I’ll just publish them right away and add the photos at a later time so I can keep up. 😉
If you’ve been reading this blog, you already know I love dogs and cats. But I actually like many animals, and if only I can show you the history of all the videos I’ve watched all these years, you’ll mostly see that the subjects were animals. Yes, I love watching them because I am amazed by these creatures, especially those that we can adopt and care for as pets. So imagine how my heart melted after watching the video below. I swear, I was smiling the whole time, and at times, even saying “Awwwww” and laughing out loud. 😀
My bro and I have been wanting to buy our own Kindle for quite sometime now. I’ve wanted to rekindle my love for reading, but since I couldn’t care well enough for my own books (or I’m just too OC when it comes to handling a book – I don’t like the pages getting folded accidentally, etc), I decided that the best way to start reading again is through an e-Reader. So, finally, yesterday, we both our own Kindle Paperwhite.
I remember back in high school, or even elementary, I frequent the library. No, I’m not the studious type. The books I read weren’t all educational, but mostly entertaining books that feed my imagination… and my vocabulary at the same time. 🙂 I was a member of the Booklover’s Club almost my entire high school life; I was even an officer of the club during my senior year which allowed me to borrow multiple books from the library with ease. I used to love the smell of books, but since I developed some kind of allergy from the ink and paper used before on books that I loved (which is also why I had to stop reading the newspaper), I had to lessen my reading and was stuck with the new, magazine-type ones (Reader’s Digest, Archie Comics, etc).
With the Kindle, I can now read all the books I’ve been longing to finish all these years. Since I’m in this moment in my life where I’m contemplating a career change (still in social media though), the first ebook I decided to read is Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg. It’s all about empowering women to be more ambitious. 🙂 I saw myself agreeing with her viewpoints. We need more women in power. 🙂
I might finally decide to finish the book Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, but I feel like I’ve already found myself. I started reading it when I was at the time of my life when I felt like I lost myself and had to renew my love for me. Reading helped a lot. Maybe finishing the book will help put me in a mindset that’ll prepare me to find love and romance, eh? 😉
My friends who know me for years would understand why I LOVEKathy Griffin. I am such a big fan of her, especially after watching her show My Life on the D List. I know, her humor may not be for everyone. It’s an acquired taste. If you’ve seen her on the D List, you’d probably change your mind about her and you’d start watching her new show Kathy on Bravo.
My brother Ken also shares the same preference for Kathy’s type of comedy – with a mix of sarcasm, self-deprication, making it all witty and dark. She can make you laugh at the simplest things ’cause she can make a joke that’s so fricking funny, you’d end up histerically laughing for hours! She’s probably the smartest comedienne I’ve ever watched. But what made me adore her is how much she cares for people. Deep down that “evil” and tough exterior is a loving person.
This is why I am so glad and grateful that Kathy Griffin has her own talk show now. FINALLY! I stopped watching those late night shows because I can’t stand the host, except for Conan O’Brien. I already watched the first episode of Kathy’s new show that’s self-entitled Kathy, and I cannot wait for the next one. I managed to stay glued watching her and I wish I’d get a chance to watch her live.
There’s no doubt, Kathy is quick-witted. Most celebrities she’s encountered either hated her or loved her ’cause of all the things she says. The thing is, most of the ones who hated her were probably hurt by the truth behind what she’s saying. LOL
And have you seen her 91-year old mom Maggie Griffin? Oh gosh. Kathy may be making fun of her and her love for boxed wine, but if you’ve seen the D List and from everything I’ve seen from her, you’d know Kathy LOVES Maggie so much. It did break my heart when I watched the D List where they were mourning her dad’s death. Imagine being together for 50+ (or more) years. Her dad was adorable too, probably where Kathy got her twisted humor.
Kathy may have this sick, sick humor. But, there’s no denying that her fans love her to death and even her assistant Tiffany is a living testament of how fun it is to be around her. I’d probably be laughing every minute I’m with Kathy. Also, the way she speaks her mind is one thing I can relate to. But, I have more self-control. *LOL*
Oh, and yes, she’s 50+ years old, but look at her bod! Also, she LOVES dogs, which is another reason why we love her. 🙂 Plus, she is one of the firm supporters of gay rights, just one of her many advocacies. Trust me, when you get to know her, you’d understand why I’m such a big fan.
If you haven’t watched the show yet, here’s a video of the WHOLE first episode of Kathy’s talk show. Enjoy!
