Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

I’ve been wanting to move out of our house for over a year now, and I’m feeling helpless at this very moment. I’m confused because an opportunity has presented itself – a chance for me to live far away from the all the stress of Metro Manila and Malabon life, and having to deal with the male DNA source that brought me to this world.

I DESPERATELY want to move to that new place. The weather and the thought of a new environment are seducing me to make the final decision to stay there for good. But my brain is telling me it’s not the most practical thing for me to do now.

Ones destination is never a place

I am hoping and praying that I can finally make up my mind when I stay there for a few weeks. I’m excited about it, but many thoughts, worries and fears are coming at me. Please, please, please help me decide. 🙁

I think it’s about time for me to be selfish. I’ve been very generous to people, especially my family, that I have forgotten about myself and MY future. I need to do something about this… as soon as possible! *sigh*

And THAT, my friends, is the reason why I need a breather.

I Had to Stop

… with my #100HappyDays blog series. I just can’t keep up! 😀

I’ve got tons of backlogs for my other blogs, mainly Pinay Reviewer and Certified Foodies, so I decided to stop that blog series here. However, I will continue with my 30-day Single Woman blogging challenge, which has now stretched to over 30 weeks. 😀

I like the questions / topics for that blogging challenge, so I will go ahead with it. I just wanted to say I decided to stop with my #100HappyDays entries. Maybe I’ll do a weekly “Things I’m Thankful For” series instead. Let’s see. 🙂

I’m hoping to get back on track with all my tasks for my blogs. I’m also planning on changing the layout of Certified Foodies since it’s our blog’s 4th year anniversary. It’ll be a completely new look so I’m excited! 🙂

Okay, that’s it for now. If you’re reading this, thanks. Have a lovely week!

I’ll leave you with this photo of me photo-bombing my nanay during our Potipot Island getaway.

I wasn’t expecting people to react about my legs being exposed in this photo. I didn’t even realize that I haven’t shown my legs EVER in any photo I’ve posted online, so I understand why they were surprised. 😀

Finally, a Vacation! (Day 39 #100HappyDays)

My bro and I thought about going on vacation this Holy Week for the first time last year (we avoid going on vacay around this week), and our initial plans were to go to back to Pagudpud and avail of a tour package so there’ll be less hassle on our end. However, because of budget issues, we had to change plans. He was desperate to go to the beach, so he picked Potipot Island in Zambales.

Waiting for our bus tickets at Victory Liner in Caloocan

We knew there’ll be tons of other tourists or travelers who’ll be taking their own vacation there, so we booked our hotel months in advance. Sadly, Potipot Gateway was fully booked (despite them telling us there’s still one room for us, and we found out they didn’t actually reserve one the next day when we were about to pay), so Ken picked Isla Vista resort. It’s not the kind of resort I would’ve picked for our vacation, but we had no choice since most of them were already fully booked.

We were supposed to buy our bus tickets in advance, but after lining up for about 40 minutes 2 weeks before our scheduled vacation, we learned Victory Liner doesn’t offer advance tickets for Holy Week, except for trips going to Baguio or Cagayan Valley. *sigh* Anyway, I knew we’ll be in for a longgggg day of waiting.

So, fast forward to this afternoon, we finally got our bus tickets going to Iba, Sta. Cruz in Zambales after 8+ hours of waiting in line. We waited for about 2 hours for our bus to arrive, and we traveled for another 7 hours to Candelaria, Zambales. GOSH! I’ll talk more about this on our travel blog, Travelsilog.

You might be wondering what I’m happy about today. Of course, it’s the fact that we got to Isla Vista safe and sound. And tomorrow, we can’t wait to swim our hearts out at Potipot Island. 🙂

This would be the last time though that we’ll be traveling by bus anywhere during the Holy Week. 😀

Getting Well-Deserved Sleep (Day 35 #100HappyDays)

I’ve been having issues with my insomnia again the past few days, so it was soooo good to finally get some decent sleep today. I slept for over 10 hours! 😀

Dear sleep...

I woke up feeling rejuvenated, but my bed won’t let me go so I stayed in and read instead. 😛

Hopefully, my insomnia will be less problematic after our vacation in Potipot. I’m not sure though if it’ll be as relaxing as I’m anticipating since we’re taking a vacation along with tons of other people this Holy Week. 😀 Let’s see!

Okay, my bed is calling me again. 😀

Can't sleep - someone else's dream

I wonder if this is true. 😛 I wish he’d think of me less on weekdays. 😀

Safe and Sound (Day 18 #100HappyDays)

I was supposed to write about my new Kindle Paperwhite for my #100HappyDays entry today, but something changed my mind completely and I’m thankful that nothing happened to me and my bro.

On our way back home from Greenhills, we decided to ask the cab driver to take the faster route – Araneta Avenue to Letre in Malabon. It was still early in the afternoon, and trucks of all sizes were driving alongside us at the highway. Whenever we pass through this area, I’m always awake and alert because it’s pretty scary, especially when you see how reckless some of the truck drivers can get. There were a number of times I had to remind our cab drivers to slow down and watch out since some of them feel like it’s okay to drive fast and careless when you’re on the highway with big trucks. *sigh*

Anyway, we were almost at the end of the highway towards Letre (sorry, not familiar with the streets) when we had to stop to wait for the traffic lights to change. Our cab driver decided to move his car from the leftmost lane to the one right next to it. This might have been the very reason why we were saved from what’s about to happen next.

There was a horrific accident that happened just a few inches from us. A truck stupidly sped away through the narrow area on the side of the leftmost lane. A motorcycle was destroyed, the driver was thrown into the air and ended up under one of the trucks in front of the container truck beside us. I thought he was dead. Thankfully, I saw him move his head, maybe checking what just happened. I wanted to get out of the cab to see how he’s doing, but our driver decided to move away from the scene. Good thing there were cops a few meters away, and the reckless truck decided to stop and maybe take responsibility for what happened.

I was so scared, especially after I saw the container van violently shaking, as if it’ll topple over our cab. It only moved maybe less than a feet towards us, thank goodness. I was ready to push open the door on my bro’s side so I can let both of us out. He was sleeping soundly, but he was awakened by my reaction and what we told him had just happened.

He later told me he sensed something similar was going to happen. Since I’m also very wary when passing through this area, I had this strange feeling it’ll happen too. Or maybe it’s this thought in my head that when you’re extremely happy, something will occur to ruin the mood.

I know, I shouldn’t be writing about this for my #100HappyDays entry since someone was hurt, but I am glad that my bro and I arrived home safe and sound. If the cab driver didn’t move to the second lane, we would’ve been part of that accident and only God knows what could’ve happened to us.

I’ve always had this fear for my loved ones’ safety, so I always check on them when they’re not around. It’s not really negativity, but maybe it’s my realistic side who knows that no matter how careful you are, there are always stupid people out there who have no care about how their actions affect others.

I sincerely hope and pray that the injured driver of the motorcycle pedicab got out of the accident okay. I hope he’s alive and well. Please, God.
