Finally, a Vacation! (Day 39 #100HappyDays)

My bro and I thought about going on vacation this Holy Week for the first time last year (we avoid going on vacay around this week), and our initial plans were to go to back to Pagudpud and avail of a tour package so there’ll be less hassle on our end. However, because of budget issues, we had to change plans. He was desperate to go to the beach, so he picked Potipot Island in Zambales.

Waiting for our bus tickets at Victory Liner in Caloocan

We knew there’ll be tons of other tourists or travelers who’ll be taking their own vacation there, so we booked our hotel months in advance. Sadly, Potipot Gateway was fully booked (despite them telling us there’s still one room for us, and we found out they didn’t actually reserve one the next day when we were about to pay), so Ken picked Isla Vista resort. It’s not the kind of resort I would’ve picked for our vacation, but we had no choice since most of them were already fully booked.

We were supposed to buy our bus tickets in advance, but after lining up for about 40 minutes 2 weeks before our scheduled vacation, we learned Victory Liner doesn’t offer advance tickets for Holy Week, except for trips going to Baguio or Cagayan Valley. *sigh* Anyway, I knew we’ll be in for a longgggg day of waiting.

So, fast forward to this afternoon, we finally got our bus tickets going to Iba, Sta. Cruz in Zambales after 8+ hours of waiting in line. We waited for about 2 hours for our bus to arrive, and we traveled for another 7 hours to Candelaria, Zambales. GOSH! I’ll talk more about this on our travel blog, Travelsilog.

You might be wondering what I’m happy about today. Of course, it’s the fact that we got to Isla Vista safe and sound. And tomorrow, we can’t wait to swim our hearts out at Potipot Island. 🙂

This would be the last time though that we’ll be traveling by bus anywhere during the Holy Week. 😀

All Packed Up For Our Vacation! (Day 38 #100HappyDays)

All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go…

Finally, I was able to pack my stuff for our 4-day, 3-night vacation in Zambales. I initially wanted to use a stroller, but my bro complained and harassed me to switch back to this black, carry-on bag. So, I did. 😀

Packing my bags

I’m a li’l OC when it comes to packing, so I’m not good at it. I tend to bring more than I needed because I feel like I MIGHT use them or that I need choices. 😀

Thankfully, I had everything I needed all packed and compact in this one bag. — update after our vacation weee! 😀

All my important stuff are in my body bag, which I’ll never remove away from my… errr… body. So, I’m good! This is the first time that I actually packed “light” for a 4D3N vacation. Kaya ko naman pala! Hahaha

Tactics to Get You Through the World Cup

Every four years, there comes a time for celebration for football fans and a moment of despair for their wives and girlfriends (and perhaps the other way round in some cases), when the football World Cup comes around.

For some women, their menfolk will simply seem to disappear from view for about four weeks in June while the FIFA World Cup is held in Brazil. So, how best to approach this phenomenon? You can go off and do your own thing, or, you can decide that even though you’re not that into football matches, you can join your man in front of the TV (at home or down at the pub), and get involved in what is one of the most exciting sports spectacles in the world.

FIFA World Cup 2014

This is the first time Brazil has hosted the World Cup in modern times, the last time being in 1950. And if any nation knows how to make football exciting, it’s Brazil. The country holds the record for the most World Cup wins – five – and it looks set to win its sixth this year. Betfair currently has Brazil as the favourite to win, priced at around 3/1.

Having a bet on the World Cup is certainly one way to feel more involved. You can get odds on all kinds of different bets – who will score the winning goal in the final game, which team will be first out, which player will score the most goals during the tournament. You get the idea. Read a few sports articles and take a look at Betfair to see what odds are available. Having some money riding on the outcome of the game adds to the excitement, especially if you’re not that into watching the actual game. And if you place your bets on Betfair, the world’s biggest betting exchange, there are no bookies involved either. It’s just individual punters placing bets and accepting other people’s bets.

If you really see yourself as a football widow, and that you can’t get into the spirit of things at all, then you’ll have to just hope that your man’s team gets knocked out early, and that their interest wanes with that defeat!

Laptop Fixed! (Day 37 #100HappyDays)

I bought my Dell laptop last year, in July. And a few weeks ago, the right-click function no longer worked. It took me a few days to call Dell’s customer service hotline, but eventually I did and today, their service tech guy came in and replaced the case of my keyboard and touchpad.

I actually wasn’t able to check reviews for my Dell laptop (Inspiron 14 3421) before I bought it. All I know is Dell’s after-sales customer service is remarkable. My last laptop – a Compaq – lasted for about 5 years before it completely broke down on me (I had it repaired once), and it survived a major crash. No, not hard drive crash but actual, physical crash after it was smashed against the ground by someone in my past. 😀 So I knew Compaq was durable. When I decided to buy this Dell laptop, I honestly wasn’t 100% sure about how long it’ll last.

Taking Long Baths (Day 36 #100HappyDays)

One of the things I enjoy the most when I’m at home is taking long baths. I can stay in the bathroom for an hour or so. Imagine how much longer I’d want to stay there if we had a bath tub. 😀

Bath - wash your worries away

Not my feet, obviously. 😛

Taking baths relaxes me. When I’m stressed or feeling a li’l down, a nice, long bath helps clear my mind and somehow, it washes away my worries for the day.

My usual bath routine goes like this: shampoo, body scrubbing, face scrub (2-3x a week), rinse everything, then I soap up twice using 2 different soaps (hahah), and then I use a hair conditioner if I’m going out. The scrubbing usually takes the longest time.

And then my after-bath routine takes about 30-45 minutes. 😀 I take my baths seriously. 😛

Today, I think I took about 1 hour and 40 minutes inside the bathroom. It helped clear my mind of some anxiety I’ve been feeling the past few days. I feel much better now.
